A Joint Project between the City Council and the County Council

Today, an institutional visit was held at the Rural Grouped School Duques de Pastrana, following the recent completion of a significant refurbishment. The renovation of the school was funded with 285,616.37 euros from the Municipal Investments Fund 2024 of the Guadalajara Provincial Council, demonstrating the Pastrana City Council’s commitment to education and the future development of the region.

The main goal of this investment was to improve the facilities that house 136 children from the localities of Pastrana, Fuentelencina, Yebra, and Escariche, with 90 of these students residing in Pastrana. This intervention adds to the one carried out the previous year at the Nursery School, which provided suitable facilities for the youngest children between 0 and 1 year old.

During the official visit, which coincided with the completion of the works in September, notable personalities from the educational and political fields attended. Among those present were the director of the CRA, Selena Ayllón, the head of studies, José Manuel Guerra, and municipal, provincial, and regional representatives. Some of the most notable attendees were the provincial deputy Raúl de la Fuente, the vice-president of the Provincial Council, David Pardo, and the delegate of Education of the Junta de Comunidades, Ángel Fernández-Montes.

The mayor of Pastrana, Carlos Largo, emphasized the importance of investing in education, considering it a key strategy for the future of the locality. “Our best decision was to allocate the funds to improve the facilities where the children of Pastrana and its region grow up. Education is fundamental to fix population and revitalize our municipality and its surroundings,” Largo stated. He also underlined that the City Council decided to use this grant for a work that greatly benefits the families of the region, strengthening the available public services.

The renovations of the CRA Duques de Pastrana have included the removal of architectural barriers, improvements in ramps for people with reduced mobility and emergency vehicles, rehabilitation of roofs and facades, optimization of the electrical installation, and the renovation of the sports tracks. In addition, new recreational spaces such as a climbing wall and exterior chalkboards have been introduced, and the upper patio has been leveled to increase user safety.

Raúl de la Fuente highlighted the importance of these aids for the head municipalities that guarantee fundamental services to families and help fight depopulation. For his part, the provincial delegate of Education, Ángel Fernández-Montes, praised the cooperation between administrations and Pastrana City Council’s firm commitment to rural education.

The visit to the CRA Duques de Pastrana was guided by Selena Ayllón and José Manuel Guerra, who highlighted the favorable impact of the refurbishment on the educational community and the potential future improvements in some facilities.

The rehabilitation of the CRA Duques de Pastrana underscores the importance of institutional cooperation and municipal determination in improving the quality of life and the future of rural families. “I thank the Provincial Council and the Junta de Comunidades for their support for this project, in our common fight for the rural environment. Together, we will always achieve our goals further,” Carlos Largo concluded.
