During the latest meeting of the Superior Council of the Colleges of Architects of Spain (CSCAE), which took place in Madrid on June 20, Elena Guijarro, Dean of the Official College of Architects of Castilla-La Mancha (COACM), was appointed as the Second Vice President of the institution. This appointment marks a significant addition to the CSCAE’s Governing Team, taking over from the former dean of the Official College of Architects of Cantabria, Moisés Castro, whose term has ended.
Marta Vall-llossera, the President of the CSCAE, commended Guijarro’s willingness and her extensive professional experience, emphasizing her deep understanding of the collegiate network and her outstanding work as a counselor. “Her work will contribute to maintaining and reinforcing the strategic lines defined by the plenum’s table for the defense of the profession and of Architecture,” Vall-llossera stated.
For her part, Elena Guijarro expressed that being named for the position is “an honor” and views it as a recognition of the efforts made from the COACM over the last five years. “One of the most important goals of the COACM’s board of directors, which I have the pleasure of leading, was to give the College greater visibility. During this time, I believe we have created dynamism in all aspects, both within Castilla-La Mancha and beyond. Today, our architects are contributing their ideas and energy to the profession at a national level,” Guijarro noted.
In addition to the Second Vice Presidency, architects from Castilla-La Mancha hold positions in virtually all the executive boards of the associations, commissions, and working groups of the Council. “We are achieving the recognition that the COACM and thus, the architects from Castilla-La Mancha deserved for years, participating with administrations and institutions,” added the new Second Vice President.
Guijarro praised the work of the CSCAE and its efforts to work for the Colleges and the profession. “From the first moment, I sensed their enthusiasm for working for the Colleges and the profession. Already in the time of Lluís Comerón, and now, with Marta Vall-llossera, the constant search for consensus and their staunch defense of our profession is evident,” she highlighted.
Now, as Second Vice President, Guijarro, in collaboration with the CSCAE’s Governing Team, is determined to communicate the institution’s work to the Colleges and the members, a task she considers “the most difficult to achieve” but essential for strengthening the profession.
The Superior Council of the Colleges of Architects of Spain, established on June 13, 1931, brings together all the Colleges of Architects in the country aiming to defend the common interests of the profession and the values of Architecture and Urbanism. It also acts as the body representing the Colleges and the profession in front of public and private corporations and international organizations.
