HVR Energy Obtains Grant from the Ministry to Expand Hydrogen Fueling Station Network

HVR Energy has secured a significant grant to boost its innovative INICIA project, aimed at setting up four hydrogen stations at key locations within the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T). This move marks a crucial step towards decarbonizing heavy transport in Spain, a vital sector for achieving national and European climate targets.

The INICIA project received approval in the second call of the Sustainable and Digital Transport Support Program (PATSYD), announced on October 25, 2024, in the Official State Gazette. HVR Energy will be granted €712,796.19, covering 38% of the eligible costs, estimated at €1.8 million. Standing out among 31 benefiting companies, the project was highly rated in terms of maturity, impact, and quality, aligning with the strategic goals of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan.

The new stations will be located in Zaragoza, Madrid, Badajoz, and Córdoba. Their innovative, compact, and modular design enables swift installation, requiring only 20 square meters of space and a minimum power of 15 kW. This system reduces the need for on-site hydrogen compression, lowering operational costs and infrastructural impact.

PATSYD aims to support projects that enhance sustainability and digitization in transportation, with a completion deadline of March 31, 2026. Considering transportation accounts for about 27% of greenhouse gas emissions in Spain, its transformation is essential to combat climate change.

This development further establishes HVR Energy as a key player in Spain’s energy transition. Since opening its plant in Coslada, Madrid, in 2023, the company has been expanding its infrastructure with European funds. With the INICIA project, HVR Energy not only helps meet the objectives of the Recovery Plan but also reinforces Spain’s leadership in green hydrogen.
