Implíca offers a free process to its companies.

Companies marketing packaging in the Spanish market must gear up to meet the new requirements set by Royal Decree 1055/2022, governing packaging and its waste. According to this legislation, companies are mandated to annually submit a detailed declaration of the packaging introduced into the market over the previous year. The Ministry for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge has stated that the reporting window for the year 2025 will be open from January 1 to April 2, 2026.

The information required in the report includes the quantity of packaging in tons, the percentage of recycled material used, the types of materials employed (such as plastic, paper, cardboard, metal, glass, wood, or multi-material), in addition to specifying the packaging use (whether it is for domestic, commercial, or industrial purposes) and its level (primary, secondary, or tertiary). It also must be indicated whether the packaging is reusable or single-use.

In this scenario, IMPLICA, a Collective Extended Producer Responsibility System (SCRAP), offers a free service to affiliated companies by taking care of submitting the declaration on their behalf. Laura Sanz de Siria, Director General of IMPLICA, highlighted that this initiative allows companies to concentrate on their core activities while IMPLICA handles the required bureaucratic demands, ensuring compliance with current regulations. “It’s a service we offer so that companies can focus on their main activity, while IMPLICA reduces the bureaucratic burden and provides peace of mind to companies in an increasingly demanding regulatory environment,” Sanz stated.

Companies not yet part of any extended producer responsibility system are encouraged to join IMPLICA. Sanz de Siria pointed out that membership provides immediate access to explanatory guides, support resources, and technical assistance to facilitate the proper preparation of the annual packaging declaration.

Moreover, Sanz de Siria emphasized IMPLICA’s collaboration with other European SCRAPS, broadening the range of proposed services. This cooperation enables member companies to receive support in meeting their obligations under the regulations of other countries, assisting them in registering with local authorities and in submitting annual reports in international markets.

With the reporting deadline approaching, IMPLICA positions itself as a strategic ally for companies, offering an effective solution for complying with packaging regulations without hassles and ensuring maximum technical assistance.
