Announcement of the New Insider Preview Build 27954 of Windows 11 in the Canary Channel.

Microsoft has released a new version of Windows 11 for the Insider program, specifically Build 27954, available in the Canary channel. This update includes various improvements and fixes designed to optimize the experience for users testing this version on their devices.

One of the most notable changes is the resolution of an issue affecting the connectivity of shared files and folders, especially for those using the Server Message Block (SMB) v1 protocol over NetBIOS. With this fix, users are expected to experience improved handling of shared resources within the local network.

Despite these improvements, Build 27954 does present some issues. Microsoft has detected an increase in what are known as bugchecks, or “blue screens,” on certain Arm64 devices. The company has indicated that it is already working on a solution for this problem.

For developers, there is an additional drawback: the PIX tool on Windows will not be able to perform GPU capture playback in this version of the operating system. An update is anticipated to address this issue by the end of September.

It is crucial to note that Canary channel versions are experimental and do not always lead to an official Windows release. Features and functionalities may vary and even be removed as Microsoft gathers feedback and tests different concepts.

Additionally, some users in the Canary channel may notice that certain features are implemented first in the Dev and Beta channels before reaching this version. The identification of new advanced features will occur over time, and users are encouraged to report any issues related to locating these features.

Finally, Microsoft has reminded users that leaving the Canary channel requires a clean installation of Windows 11, as insiders cannot switch to a channel that receives lower-numbered build versions without taking this action.
