Cuenca Hosts the Third Conference on Architect Expertise

Here’s the American English translation of your text:

In Cuenca, the Official College of Architects of Castilla-La Mancha (COACM) held the third session of its series on expert testimony, focusing on the “Interaction Among Participants in Expert Testimony.” This event brought together judges, attorneys, and architects who shared their experiences and insights in an increasingly crucial field for professional practice.

COACM has reaffirmed its commitment to the continuous education of architects, viewing it as a priority through its Group of Expert and Forensic Architects of Castilla-La Mancha (AAPF-CM). This group, part of the Union of Expert and Forensic Architects of Spain (UAPFE), aims to strengthen the training of its members in areas requiring specialization and to update their knowledge in judicial and forensic expertise applicable to architecture.

The session took place on September 11 at the COACM headquarters in Cuenca, organized by the AAPF-CM and the COACM’s Technological Advisory Center, with sponsorship from ASEMAS. COACM Dean Elena Guijarro participated remotely, emphasizing the relevance of specialization for expert architects in judicial proceedings. Guijarro highlighted how the work of experts is crucial in providing technical rigor in expert reports.

The day’s program included three prominent presentations. Attorney Cristina Fuentes emphasized the need for effective communication among parties and presented the elements that constitute a clear and useful expert report. José María Rives, president of the Provincial Court of Cuenca, provided practical criteria on the issuance and evaluation of expert reports, highlighting the importance of objectivity and the technical training of experts. Architect Vicente Casanova shared insights on producing thorough opinions, stressing the need for honesty and clarity.

The event concluded with a roundtable discussion where the speakers debated the topics addressed and responded to the audience’s concerns. Pablo León, the session director, thanked the organizers and underscored the importance of such initiatives to improve the professional training of architects in the field of expertise.

With this session, the AAPF-CM series successfully advances following previous sessions in Toledo and Guadalajara, with future sessions planned in Albacete and Ciudad Real, thereby reinforcing COACM’s commitment to the specialized training of its members.
