The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) has announced its annual awards ceremony, an event that will take place on September 10, 2025, at the San Francisco Design Center Galleria. For over 35 years, the EFF has been honoring leaders and organizations that excel in innovation and advocacy for digital rights, celebrating the achievements of those who strive to create a better future in technology.
The ceremony will run from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM Pacific Time and will be open not only to members of the digital rights community but also to supporters and friends. Attendees will enjoy a buffet dinner with vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options, as well as a variety of beverages available at a hosted bar.
This year, several distinguished awardees will be honored. Just Futures Law, a project of women of color lawyers, will be recognized for its innovative work in immigration and surveillance litigation. Erie Meyer, an expert in technology and policy, will receive an award for her efforts in protecting the data of American citizens. Finally, the Software Freedom Law Center of India will be honored for its advocacy of digital freedoms within the country.
For those who cannot attend in person, the EFF will offer a live stream of the event on September 12, which will also be available later on YouTube and the Internet Archive. The community is expected to come together to celebrate the achievements of these visionaries in an atmosphere of camaraderie and dedication to digital rights.
