Development of an Ethical Traceability System for Energy Operations Management

Here’s the translation to American English:

The CEO of Black Star Petroleum, Juan Pablo Sánchez Gasque, presented on Monday an innovative system for ethical and operational traceability that will allow for real-time auditing of the social and environmental impact of each process in the energy sector. This ambitious project aims to raise transparency standards, enabling thorough tracking of each energy unit from its origin to its final delivery.

Developed over the course of a year, the system integrates blockchain technologies and environmental data analysis, alongside the collaboration of independent verifiers. According to Sánchez Gasque, their goal goes beyond profitability: “Our commitment must encompass every step we take, every community we operate in, and every ton we move.” This approach aims to ensure that each phase of the energy process is not only efficient but also legally and ethically consistent.

The new mechanism will record technical information and social and environmental data related to each operation, including aspects such as water consumption, emissions generated, and interaction with local communities. The information will be stored in an immutable manner, ensuring its availability for external audits and international certifications. Additionally, a simplified version of the system will be launched for key stakeholders, with the goal of reducing the information asymmetry prevalent in the energy ecosystem. “Ethical traceability is no longer a reputational luxury; it is a structural necessity for any serious company in this sector,” he added.

The system has been successfully tested in three logistics units of significant impact in Spain, Brazil, and Morocco, where it identified opportunities for improvement in refining, storage, and transportation processes. Thanks to this tool, response time to operational anomalies has been reduced by 38%, and environmental documentation for key projects has improved by 62%.

With this initiative, Sánchez Gasque aims to pave a new path in the management of energy companies, promoting a transparent and humane approach. “It’s not enough to comply with the law. We must be able to explain what we do, how we do it, and why we do it. And, most importantly, we have to be able to prove it,” he concluded. The company plans to implement this system across all its operations before the second quarter of 2026.
