Digital Health Innovation: Hackathon Distributes €9,000 in Prizes

The city of Madrid is gearing up to become the epicenter of innovation in the field of digital health with the highly anticipated ninth edition of the Health Hackathon. This event, which will take place on December 10th at the prestigious Ramón y Cajal Hospital, will bring together healthcare professionals, patients, entrepreneurs, and technology developers with the shared goal of developing innovative solutions based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and chatbots. These tools are aimed at addressing the challenges of the contemporary healthcare sector. The initiative offers a total of 9,000 euros in prizes, as well as mentoring and development programs, in order to incentivize participation in six different challenges, each focused on specific areas of health.

Among the highlighted challenges is the EQUALITY IMPULSE AI Challenge in disability, which aims to optimize care for people with disabilities through the use of conversational agents. On the other hand, the Madrid College of Physiotherapists AI in Physiotherapy Challenge focuses on the creation of tools that improve treatment and prevention in the field of physiotherapy. Likewise, the Grünenthal Chronic Pain AI Challenge seeks digital innovations that contribute to improving treatments related to chronic pain.

Additionally, the event will feature proposals for the Boehringer Ingelheim Challenge, which promotes early diagnosis and a holistic approach to cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic pathologies. The General Council of Pharmaceutical Colleges will also be present with the Pharmacists against Misinformation in Health Challenge, an initiative focused on combating misinformation related to medications.

The Health Hackathon also includes the COM Health Communication in Health Challenge, which will award the best proposal in the Growth category, with a focus on the effectiveness of communicative and strategic solutions within the healthcare sector. Participating teams, which can consist of between two and five people, have until November 22nd to register for free on the event’s portal.

This year represents a significant step towards the integration of generative AI in the Hackathon, especially by promoting consensus in Disability and Physiotherapy, with the collaboration of over 40 experts from various disciplines. This initiative aims to enhance the development of effective digital solutions while ensuring ethical handling of data, thereby promoting responsible innovation.

The ninth edition of the Health Hackathon presents an unparalleled opportunity for professionals from various fields to join forces and generate synergies that can translate into significant advances for the healthcare sector. Madrid, as the host, will welcome this event that will not only reward creativity and innovation but also contribute to the development of solutions that enhance the quality of life for people.
