The Madrid-based firm Cocinas Río, specialized in exclusive kitchens, has presented one of the most outstanding projects of its almost five-decade career: a design made entirely of natural oak wood, a proposal that is uncommon in Spain due to its technical complexity and high level of execution required.
Located in the heart of Madrid, in the Plaza de España area, this project reflects the essence of the brand, based on craftsmanship, knowledge of the material, and a contemporary vision of natural wood. The result goes beyond a designed kitchen, becoming a piece of high cabinetmaking that combines the warmth of organic with the precision of modern architecture, creating a unique and sophisticated space conceived as a true architectural piece.
The island: a moving oak sculpture

The central piece of the project is undoubtedly the sculptural island. Designed as an organic volume, it has been built using solid oak blocks strategically arranged to create a wavy silhouette. The curves counteract each other, creating a dynamic play of lights and shadows that add depth. It is not just a functional piece of furniture; it is a piece of art that interacts with the space, turning the act of cooking into a sensory experience.
Technical precision and visual continuity
To achieve a “visual silence” environment, the design is articulated around clean lines where nothing is decorative. The doors of the sink and refrigerator area have a smooth front in natural oak veneer, with a construction detail that makes the difference: 45° edges and flat grooves also in oak. This technical solution allows for absolute formal cleanliness, eliminating visual interruptions and allowing the wood to be the sole protagonist.
Material contrast: marble and wood
The ensemble is balanced with a round “sandwich” marble countertop. This element not only introduces a cold contrast to the warmth of oak but also adds a touch of tactile sophistication. The choice of noble materials underscores the brand’s philosophy: creating spaces designed to last, where the honesty of the material is the greatest luxury.
Invisible technology for contemporary well-being
In the technological field, functionality yields to aesthetics without losing efficiency. The kitchen incorporates complete equipment from the Siemens StudioLine range, including integrated hob and hood. This choice reinforces the concept of “invisible technology”: the appliances visually disappear to not interfere with the purity of the design, ensuring that the emotional core of the home is at the same time a tool of high precision.
