FSIE Madrid Renews Educators’ Commitment Amidst the Power Outage

The Community of Madrid begins to recover normalcy following the historic blackout that affected all of Spain on Monday, April 28. According to the FSIE Madrid union, this return to routine is largely due to the commitment and responsibility shown by education professionals during critical moments. Although schools reopened their doors today, Tuesday, April 29, educational activities have not yet resumed, highlighting the fundamental role of schools as a pillar of stability for many families in Madrid.

The independent union, which represents teachers and non-teaching staff, has praised the efforts of all workers in the education sector who, despite the challenges, have shown up at their centers to ensure the necessary care and safety. “This episode only confirms what has been demonstrated many times: in the most difficult times, teachers and the rest of the staff are always up to the task,” stated FSIE Madrid, emphasizing the dedication and professionalism of educators.

However, the union has stressed that this dedication should translate into concrete improvements for all workers in the sector, who, despite their essential role in the educational system, continue to lack adequate institutional recognition and support. FSIE Madrid questions whether “this daily commitment is reflected in labor advancements, adequate resources, and a strong commitment to educational quality in all centers.”

Finally, the union has reaffirmed its commitment to continue defending the interests of these professionals, ensuring that it will fight for their voices to be heard and for their important work to receive the recognition it truly deserves.
