Goodbye to Teamwork: A Soft Skills Certificate Based on Real Behaviors

An innovative startup, Kodo People, has emerged from the University of Granada with support from Telefónica, aiming to transform the assessment of interpersonal skills. Through methods that combine games based on Behavioral Economics and artificial intelligence, Kodo People offers a Soft Skills Certificate that allows for the objective evaluation of competencies such as empathy, leadership, and resilience, thereby overcoming the biases that often affect traditional self-assessments.

In an increasingly automated and collaborative work environment, the demand for soft skills has been on the rise. Studies from organizations such as the OECD and the World Economic Forum highlight the relevance of these competencies, even though many companies still face the challenge of reliably assessing them. Antonio M. Espín, founder of Kodo and an expert in Behavioral Economics, states that “only what is objectively assessed can be certified.”

Kodo People has identified essential skills such as adaptability, teamwork, and self-awareness, which are critical in hiring processes. Through an online test, users engage in simulations that present ethical dilemmas and require decisions in risk or cooperative situations. These games generate information that, in turn, allows for inferring behavioral traits and translating them into comparative results, alongside personalized recommendations for professional development.

The startup has also developed Evalia, an artificial intelligence that analyzes the results of the certificate and offers tailored improvement pathways for each user. This ranges from training recommendations to support in interview preparation, enhancing the utility of the certificate both for job searching and improving compatibility within work teams.

The proposal has attracted the attention of multiple educational institutions and employment programs, which recognize this methodology as an effective way to validate competencies based on scientific evidence. According to initial data from Kodo People, over 80% of users have reported a better understanding of their strengths and how to communicate them, increasing the likelihood of securing employment by over 30% by including reliable information about their soft skills in their resumes.

Kodo People has a clear mission: to bring experimental rigor to the workplace and educational sectors, representing a significant advancement in how interpersonal competencies are valued and developed in the 21st century.
