Huawei and Shanghai Jiao Tong University Present the Global Showcase for Intelligent Education and Research

During HUAWEI CONNECT 2025, Huawei and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) presented an innovative global showcase of smart education and research, an event that marks a significant advancement in the adoption of cutting-edge technologies in the educational field.

At the core of this collaboration is “Zhiyuan-1,” which stands as the most powerful intelligent computing platform among Chinese universities. Built on Ascend artificial intelligence processors and Kunpeng servers, this platform allows for agile data management and computational resources, facilitating the training of large-scale artificial intelligence models. Its integration into the university’s computing service system, known as “Jiaowosuan,” significantly enhances accessibility to computing resources for students and faculty.

Li Peng, Huawei’s Senior Vice President, emphasized during the event that the combination of artificial intelligence and big data in the educational context is indispensable today. He highlighted that traditional teaching methods, which often focus on theory, do not meet the demands for interdisciplinary talent required in the contemporary job market. In this regard, practical training facilitated by artificial intelligence emerges as an effective strategy to bridge the gap between theory and practice.

The inauguration of the Global Showcase of Smart Education and Research was conducted by Shen Hongxing and Lin Xinhua from the SJTU Network and Information Center, alongside Zhao Yixin, Huawei’s Vice President for the public sector and head of Education and Health. This showcase sets a new benchmark in higher education, promoting synergy between artificial intelligence and innovation in research and campus governance.

Looking to the future, Huawei reaffirmed its commitment to working alongside universities and partners globally with the aim of fostering digital transformation in the educational system. According to their executives, the goal is to train professionals who will contribute to high-quality development across multiple sectors, thereby cultivating a sustainable and collaborative educational ecosystem.
