Opening of the Yangtze Cultural Arts Season in Wuhan

On the night of September 14th, Beijing time, the opening ceremony of the Yangtze River Cultural Arts Season took place in Wuhan, Hubei province, China. The ceremony created a feast of cultural arts with the theme “with the sky as the backdrop, the city as the stage, and the Yangtze River as the main stage.” Singers from the 13 provinces along the Yangtze River performed songs and dances reflecting local customs. One thousand university students from twelve universities in Hubei participated in a choir that performed “The Song of the Yangtze.” During the climax, thousands of drones illuminated the sky above the Yangtze River Bridge in Wuhan, representing landmarks from the 13 provinces along the river, followed by a dazzling fireworks display that lasted nearly ten minutes. Many citizens attended the event to appreciate the rich culture of the Yangtze River.

The opening ceremony was executed by the Hubei Media Group and integrated “culture + technology” elements, using AR (augmented reality) technology and 3D drone light shows.

The Yangtze River Cultural Arts Season will continue until November 4th, featuring various activities centered around the culture of the Yangtze River and Chinese civilization, including themed art exhibitions, a film week, a performing arts showcase, choir week, reading week, literature week, and an exhibition of intangible cultural heritage. These activities aim to fully showcase the essence and charm of Yangtze River culture and encourage active participation from the public. The 13 provinces along the Yangtze River will participate collectively.

On the opening day, the first event of the Yangtze River Art and Culture Season was held in Wuhan, titled “Academic Seminar of Yangtze River Culture Masters and the Inauguration Ceremony of the Yangtze River Culture Research Institute.”
