Recognition of Excellence in Veterinary Medicine: IV Animal’s Health Awards

The fourth edition of the Animal’s Health Awards took place on June 19 at the Duques de Pastrana Palace in Madrid, an event that brought together prominent professionals in the veterinary and animal health sectors in Spain. This gala aimed to recognize the talent and work of 12 institutions and influential figures in this field, with the collaboration of leading companies such as Biogénesis Bagó, Ceva Animal Health, and Zoetis.

The ceremony was inaugurated by journalist Verónica Sanz, who introduced important presentations by sector figures. Among the attendees were María Rosa Martínez, Secretary of State for Social Rights, and José Ramón Becerra, Director General of Animal Rights. The awards covered various categories, highlighting achievements in research, animal welfare, and sustainability.

Ana Josefa Soler received the Research Award for her outstanding management of funds for health and environmental projects. David González won the Young Talent Award for his work representing students through the National Council of Veterinary Students. Juan Carlos Castillejo was recognized for his career in the veterinary field, while Juan José Quereda was awarded for his contribution to food safety.

The Animal’s Health Award for Animal Welfare was given to María Vitoria, who excelled in her dedication during the DANA, prioritizing the lives of her patients. Other figures such as María Dolores Pérez Alenza and Albina Sanz were also awarded, highlighting the diversity of contributions to the sector.

Fernando González received the Sustainability Award for his impact on conservation and global health. The Junta de Andalucía was recognized with the Public Administration Award for its integrated public health policies. Francisco Bueno was awarded the One Health Award for promoting cooperation between health disciplines, while Patrocinio Morrondo was named Woman of the Year, emphasizing her influence in educating future female veterinary scientists.

The ceremony concluded with words from María Rosa Martínez, who underscored the importance of the human-animal bond in society and closed a gala filled with tributes to dedication and commitment to animal health in Spain.
