Sailfish Digital Ventures (SDV) has taken a bold step by announcing the launch of Comanche Circle, an ambitious data center project spanning 2,600 acres in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. This development proposes to host nine data center campuses, with a combined capacity that could reach up to 5 GW of power, thus meeting the growing need for data infrastructures driven by artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies.
The first phase of the project consists of five campuses specifically designed to meet the demands of hyperscale and large enterprises. These spaces are characterized by their flexibility, allowing companies to efficiently scale their operations. Each campus in Phase I has significant energy capabilities: Campus A will cover 280 acres and 1,000 MW spread across ten buildings; Campus B with 210 acres and 600 MW in six buildings, and similar configurations in Campus C, D, and E.
With the growth of the data center sector, the speed of energy supply has become crucial. SDV has designed a strategy that combines on-site energy generation through natural gas and fast connections to the electrical grid, allowing for agile response to market demand. Key milestones of the project include delivering 600 MW of power within 24 months, and the implementation of an additional total of 2,600 MW by the end of 2027 and 2028.
In addition to energy capacity, the project also involves investment in sustainable energy solutions, allocating 400 acres for the development of small modular reactors and solar panels, underscoring its commitment to long-term sustainability.
Located in Tolar, Texas, Comanche Circle benefits from a strategic location. It is situated less than a mile from the Comanche Peak nuclear plant, with immediate access to 345 kV transmission lines, facilitating connection to the ERCOT and Oncor Electric Delivery grid.
Looking towards the future and in response to the rise of artificial intelligence and cloud computing, Comanche Circle is poised to be a key player in the evolution of data center capacity. Now, with leasing for Phase I open, SDV is in talks with companies interested in securing space in one of the most ambitious data center developments in the United States, marking a new chapter in the country’s technological infrastructure.
