Samsung Electronics has announced that its 2025 OLED television, model S95F, has received official certification as a “Real Black” display from the Verband der Elektrotechnik (VDE), a prestigious certification institution in Germany. This recognition ensures that the company’s OLED technology delivers a visual experience with authentic and deep blacks.
The certification highlights that the OLED screen achieves sharp, glare-free images, showcasing blacks that measure below 0.005 nits in dark environments. Additionally, it maintains black accuracy even in rooms with direct sunlight, resulting in high-clarity visuals with rich, dark shades.
Hoon Seol, Vice President and Head of the CE Division at Samsung Electronics Germany, emphasized that this achievement reflects the company’s commitment to elevating OLED technology to new standards. “We look forward to providing more customers the opportunity to experience world-class picture quality with the deepest blacks and exceptional color clarity,” stated Seol.
Ansgar Hinz, President and CEO of VDE, pointed out that the “Real Black” certification is only awarded to screens that pass rigorous evaluations. “Samsung’s OLED stood out for its ability to maintain rich and accurate blacks across a wide range of lighting conditions, from home theaters to well-lit living rooms,” noted Hinz.
The S95F model includes Samsung’s advanced Glare-Free 2.0 technology, validated by the VDE certification, which minimizes reflections and preserves black depth. To achieve this certification, the S95F series underwent rigorous testing in various viewing conditions, analyzing the impact of ambient light and the ability to retain black levels in dark environments.
Furthermore, the certified “Real Black” OLED series offers exceptional clarity and contrast, allowing viewers to appreciate every detail, whether in high-speed games or cinematic scenes. The OLED Glare-Free technology further enhances this experience, ensuring that viewers can enjoy authentic images in different lighting conditions.
Samsung has led the global television market for 19 consecutive years, thanks to its innovation in premium displays. The 2025 OLED television lineup is also the first in the industry to receive AMD FreeSync™ Premium Pro certification and be validated as compatible with NVIDIA G-SYNC, ensuring smooth performance in gaming.
