Samsung Electronics has confirmed the delivery of over 6,000 hospitality televisions and smart signage displays to Royal Caribbean’s “Star of the Seas,” recognized as one of the best family destinations in the world. This remarkable installation spans various areas of the ship, including guest cabins, crew quarters, and public spaces such as lounges and theaters. This agreement marks a significant milestone in the relationship between the two companies, which has lasted for over 21 years, with Samsung serving as the official display technology provider for Royal Caribbean.
The “Star of the Seas,” which made its maiden voyage from Port Canaveral, Florida, in August 2025, is the second ship in Royal Caribbean’s Icon-class series. Samsung’s hospitality televisions have been specifically designed for commercial environments, providing a high-quality experience for passengers.
The Crystal UHD TVs, model HBU8000, are installed in the cabins and offer 4K UHD resolution with Dynamic Crystal Color technology, allowing for the representation of over a billion colors. Additionally, each TV becomes an information hub, providing personalized welcome messages, activity schedules, destination information, and relevant updates for passengers.
On the other hand, the UHD QMC smart signage series ensures the delivery of content in high definition in public areas, optimizing space efficiency. Since 2004, Samsung has supplied over 200,000 TVs and displays on 28 ships in Royal Caribbean’s fleet, including their sister ship, the “Icon of the Seas,” which also had 6,000 similar displays installed.
Hoon Chung, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ Visual Display business, highlighted the collaboration: “What we have achieved with Royal Caribbean over the past 20 years is a testament to our shared commitment to innovation and focus on delivering world-class experiences to guests.” Samsung, a leader in the commercial display market for 17 consecutive years, continues to innovate with the launch of a new model, the HF8000F, a 24-inch TV tailored for crew cabins, hospitals, and hotel rooms.
In the face of growing demand for rich and personalized entertainment experiences, Samsung reaffirms its commitment to continuing this collaboration with Royal Caribbean, taking their display technology to new heights.
