The Comunicando Futuro Foundation has confirmed the holding of DESINFO-STOP 2025, a summit that will take place in Madrid on October 9, focused on the issue of misinformation. This phenomenon has proven to have a significant impact on key sectors such as science, health, and education, becoming a challenge that requires urgent attention.
The event aims to serve as a meeting place for experts, journalists, and professionals from various fields who are at the forefront of the fight against misinformation. Its purpose is not only to analyze the current state of this phenomenon and its repercussions but also to propose practical and effective solutions. There will be an emphasis on analyzing how misinformation affects different segments of the population and what strategies can be implemented to mitigate its impact.
Topics to be addressed include the tensions between new digital media and traditional media, the risks that misinformation poses especially to youth, and the importance of media literacy in a saturated information environment. Additionally, issues such as the regulation of communication in times of crisis, the effect of misinformation on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria, and the management of crises caused by the spread of misinformation in the business sector will be discussed.
The event will feature the participation of 53 prominent professionals, including Borja Bergareche, Koro Castellano, and Carlos Lauría, who will offer an international perspective on misinformation. During the summit, a study titled “Situation and Trends of Misinformation 2025” will be presented, providing an in-depth analysis of the current state and future projections of this issue.
The Comunicando Futuro Foundation has expressed its commitment not only to combat misinformation but also to empower youth to become responsible consumers and disseminators of information. Among its goals are increasing media literacy, developing critical skills in young people, and reducing the spread of fake news, with the aim of building a more informed and resilient society in the face of this contemporary challenge.
