The AEFI Puts Consumer Protection at the Heart of Its Strategy.

The Spanish Association of Real Estate Franchise Companies (AEFI) has made a significant step in defending consumer rights by adopting the European Franchise Code of Ethics as its regulatory framework. This move unites 700 offices and 6,600 professionals from leading brands in the sector, such as Alfa Inmobiliaria, Century 21, Comprarcasa, Keller Williams, Look & Find, Redpiso, and Remax, with the aim of establishing a high standard for transparency and customer protection.

Leonardo Cromstedt, president of AEFI, has emphasized that this adoption goes beyond internal regulations, becoming true consumer protection. This decision responds to the growing social demand for transparency, especially in a critical context for the sector marked by the recent approval of the 2025 Housing Law. This law has increased the informational obligations that real estate agents must undertake.

The new regulatory framework focuses on four key areas: protecting consumer interests, providing informational transparency, ensuring confidentiality of personal and financial data, and prohibiting any form of discrimination while requiring independence in operations. These measures aim to ensure that all real estate transactions are conducted under high ethical and legal standards, always prioritizing the consumer.

Additionally, AEFI has expressed its commitment to the ongoing training of its professionals through the launch of the 2025 Legal Course. This course covers aspects of both private and public law, among others, with the goal of keeping agents updated in light of recent legislative changes, thus contributing to the professionalization of the sector.

The creation of this ethical and regulatory foundation aims to build trust in real estate franchises in Spain and align them with international standards. In a market where transactions have reached record figures, it is essential for consumers to operate in an environment that prioritizes their rights and safety.

By integrating the leading networks in the country, AEFI reinforces its role as a leader in implementing ethical standards that exceed minimum legal requirements, with consumer protection as a strategic focus in the development of the real estate sector in Spain.
