The Community of Madrid Boosts the Furniture Industry with the First Edition of Furniture Week.

The Madrid Furniture Week will take place from February 4 to 7, coinciding with Intergift, one of the most relevant fairs in the field of decoration and interior design. This event will have the participation of various associated stores that will offer special promotions, providing citizens with the opportunity to access high-quality and design products, while strengthening the relationship between specialized commerce and consumers.

The signing of a collaboration agreement between the Ministry of Economy, Finance, and Employment of the Community of Madrid, the Association of Habitat Trade Entrepreneurs of the Community of Madrid (Habitat Madrid), IFEMA MADRID, and the City Council of Arganda del Rey marks the beginning of Furniture Week. This agreement aims to coordinate the furniture industry in the region and position the sector as an economic, cultural, and social engine.

During the signing ceremony, María del Carmen Tejera Jimeno, Deputy Minister of Economy and Employment, stressed the importance of the agreement, mentioning that the furniture sector employs 15,000 people and generates a turnover of 1.2 billion euros, representing 1.5% of the regional GDP. Tejera stated: “This protocol not only talks about intentions but actions. Madrid is the economic engine of Spain and this Furniture Week will boost the benefit of the community’s habitat commerce.”

The objective of Furniture Week is to showcase a crucial sector for the regional economy. This initiative seeks to highlight the industry’s ability to create employment and wealth, thus improving the quality of life of citizens. Collaboration with IFEMA MADRID will allow the event to be integrated into Intergift, enhancing the sector’s visibility in a prominent professional environment.

Carlos Daniel Martínez Rodríguez, Executive Vice President of IFEMA, stated that fairs should serve as levers for economic development and expressed his hope that this collaboration will position Madrid as a reference in the furniture industry in Europe.

The event will be a meeting point not only for professionals and specialized stores, but also for the general public, with activities such as furniture trend presentations, conferences, and roundtable discussions. Associated stores will offer special promotions, facilitating access to quality products for the population.

The Mayor of Arganda del Rey, Alberto Escribano García, emphasized the importance of this initiative for the local industry and its commitment to the history of Arganda in this area. Jesús Clemente, president of Habitat Madrid, highlighted the relevance of the Week to highlight the value of Madrid’s furniture and encouraged consumers to trust specialized commerce and professional advice.

Under the slogan “Touching Wood”, the campaign promotes trust and authenticity, linking tradition with evolution towards sustainability and contemporary design. With this first edition, the Community of Madrid positions itself to establish an event that could become a national reference, contributing to the revitalization of commerce and the habitat industry in the region.
