The Essential Value of Ongoing Training in the Professional Field

More than half of professionals in Spain choose on-the-job practical training as their preferred educational method, according to a recent study by Gi Group Holding, a multinational company focused on human resources solutions. This analysis highlights that 89% of workers consider training to be either “very” or “quite” important for their professional development, showing the increasing need to update knowledge and skills in a rapidly changing job market.

Despite this desire for continuous learning, the research reveals a lack of commitment from companies. Only 17% of respondents feel “fully supported” in their training initiatives, while 39% mention insufficient support and 16% feel completely neglected. This disparity raises questions about shared responsibility in professional development, as 69% of workers believe that both employees and companies should collaborate in this aspect.

The logistics sector stands out as the most committed to training initiatives, with 62% of professionals pointing to a high level of support. In contrast, the manufacturing sector shows one of the lowest levels, where only half of workers feel supported, and 20% report receiving no help in their professional development.

In-person training and workshops are widely valued, chosen by 47% of respondents. This preference is even more intense in sectors such as the food industry and logistics, where the interest in practical training reaches 60%. While online courses and self-learning are popular among younger generations, methods such as mentoring and attending conferences are considered less relevant.

In terms of motivation for professional growth, salary increase ranks first, mentioned by 63% of professionals, followed by job security and personal growth. These data underline a significant discrepancy between training needs and the support that companies are willing to offer, suggesting that it is crucial to develop programs that integrate both technical training and the development of soft skills to face the challenges of the future.
