The Prado Museum exhibits works inspired by its collection created by employees.

A group of museum security guards at the Prado Museum has unleashed their creativity by organizing an exhibition, which can be visited from today until mid-July, where they present artistic works inspired by the museum’s Sculpture Collection.

This new initiative has its precedent in a similar exhibition carried out in September 2020, when a group of guards from the same work environment decided to present their works at the Willco Art Gallery under the title “They take care of them, they paint them.” That exhibition was inspired by the Prado Museum Collection. Now, the guards have focused their gaze on the sculpture collection rooms, this time bringing their creativity directly to the Prado Museum environment.

The project not only offers visitors a unique and close-up perspective of the collection through the eyes of those who spend the most time with it. It also provides guards with a platform to express their own vision and artistic talent, highlighting the special bond they have with the pieces they guard daily.

This proposal contributes to strengthening the relationship between the public and museum staff, emphasizing that art is not only to be contemplated but can also be reinterpreted and revitalized by those who protect it. Undoubtedly, an enriching experience for both visitors and guards themselves, who find in this project a valuable opportunity to explore and share their creativity.
