Policlínica Gipuzkoa is getting ready to carry out, for the second consecutive year, the ENDOnosti Hands-On & Live Course, a relevant event aimed at digestive system specialists from all over Spain. This year, the course will take place on February 6th and 7th and will focus on the third space endoscopy technique, a method that has gained great importance in the treatment of digestive tract lesions.
Due to the success of the first edition, the capacity of the course has been increased, allowing the participation of 130 people including participants, teachers, and industry-related personnel. Dr. Francisco Zozaya, a specialist in digestive system diseases and coordinator of the event, highlights a unique aspect of this training: “Each participant will work directly with a teacher, ensuring a more enriching learning experience,” he says.
The third space endoscopy is an innovative technique that allows addressing lesions in the intermediate layers of the digestive tract walls. Dr. Zozaya explains that this procedure has revolutionized the management of such lesions, which previously could only be treated through surgery. “Now we can perform less invasive interventions, reduce complications, and facilitate a faster recovery for patients,” he adds.
Originally from Japan, the third space endoscopy technique is finding its place in Europe. However, its widespread adoption faces challenges that Dr. Zozaya considers essential to overcome through continuous training. He also emphasizes the importance of collaboration between professionals from different regions for the development of new techniques that offer more therapeutic options and, consequently, better clinical outcomes.
The course program will include three key activities: a series of lectures by recognized experts, practical workshops where participants will work with ex-vivo models, and live transmission of several cases from the Digestive Endoscopy Unit of Policlínica Gipuzkoa, allowing attendees to observe the procedures live. This theoretical and practical approach aims to elevate the level of endoscopy training at a national level.
