Costs and Bureaucracy: Key Challenges for Entrepreneurship According to Legálitas Business

Entrepreneurship in Spain has become a path full of obstacles, according to a recent study conducted by Legálitas Negocios. This report, which gathers the opinions of more than 700 people on social media, has identified that the economic cost is the main barrier that new entrepreneurs face. 42% of the respondents expressed that the high prices associated with starting a business activity constitute a significant obstacle.

Entrepreneurs share the difficulties they experience when assuming a considerable economic burden before starting to generate income. The initial expenses they must face include the creation of a company, the purchase of equipment, rent, and self-employed fees. Although initiatives such as the flat rate for new self-employed individuals exist, the perception of a high initial cost continues to influence the decisions of those who wish to start a business. Additionally, many opined that the various public aids available are not sufficient to mitigate this economic burden.

Another highlighted aspect in the study is bureaucracy, considered a serious impediment. Despite the relatively simple process of registering as self-employed, setting up a limited liability company is filled with complex procedures that can discourage aspiring entrepreneurs. Among these procedures are obtaining a social denomination certificate and registering with the commercial registry, which can make the process longer and more costly compared to that of a self-employed worker.

The study also reveals the existence of legal doubts that affect entrepreneurs. 10% of the respondents mentioned that the lack of clarity on legal aspects hinders them from progressing, highlighting the confusion about the most suitable legal form for their projects and the necessary procedures to carry them out.

The duration of the process for creating a company presents itself as another significant barrier, with 8% of the participants indicating that the slowness of the procedures discourages them from starting their own business. While self-employed individuals can activate their activity in a day, forming a company generally involves a prolonged process, thus adding another difficulty to the entrepreneurial landscape.

The Legálitas Negocios study highlights the need for effective support to facilitate entrepreneurship in Spain. It is essential to offer guidance to future entrepreneurs, helping them make informed decisions in an administrative and financial environment that is increasingly complex when starting a new project.
