Quirónsalud Bizkaia celebrates Book Day with a special initiative for hospitalized patients

On the occasion of International Book Day, the Hospital Quirónsalud Bizkaia has carried out a touching initiative aimed at its hospitalized patients, reaffirming its commitment to comprehensive care and emotional well-being. The hospital has distributed books to those staying in its facilities, with the goal of offering them moments of escape and comfort during their stay.

The nursing staff has played a key role in this action, directly delivering the books to the different floors of the hospital. This gesture has allowed for a more personal and close connection with each patient. Additionally, an inspiring message emphasizing the importance of reading has been shared on the tablets in the hospital’s Smart Rooms: “Because a book can be much more than pages: it can be company in waiting, relief in a difficult moment, or simply an open door to other worlds. Reading allows us to travel, dream, and feel a bit freer.”

This action is part of a people-centered care philosophy, in a context where hospitalization can be difficult and stressful. Simple gestures like this contribute to improving the patient’s experience, helping those going through recovery processes to feel accompanied and listened to. Reading becomes an invaluable tool, capable of facilitating moments of reflection and emotional connection.

Promoting reading in a hospital setting, where uncertainty and waiting are part of everyday life, not only enriches the patient’s stay, but also has a positive impact on their well-being. A book can provide company, open a window to the outside world, or help reconnect with positive emotions, essential aspects for a more human and warm recovery process. The images of this initiative capture the spirit of the day, marked by the enthusiasm and dedication of the hospital staff, reaffirming their commitment to making their space a more welcoming place through small but significant details.
