Samsung 2025: OLED TV Recognized by VDE as ‘True Black’ Screen for Exceptional Image Quality

Samsung Electronics has announced that its 2025 model OLED TV, the S95F, has been officially certified as a “Real Black” display by the Verband der Elektrotechnik (VDE), a well-known certification institute for electrical engineering in Germany. This validation confirms that Samsung’s OLED technology delivers a visual experience with true blacks, marking a significant advancement in image quality in the audiovisual field.

The certification ensures that the OLED display provides sharp, glare-free images, with extremely precise blacks measured below 0.005 nits in dark environments. This guarantees that visual results are crisp, where black tones are perceived as truly deep and pronounced.

Hoon Seol, Vice President and Head of the CE Division at Samsung Electronics Germany, stated that obtaining the VDE “Real Black” certification demonstrates the company’s commitment to elevating OLED technology to new heights. VDE executives confirmed that this certification is only granted to displays that pass rigorous evaluations, highlighting Samsung’s OLED capability to maintain rich, precise blacks across various lighting conditions, from home theaters to well-lit living rooms.

Additionally, the S95F OLED TV series includes Samsung’s advanced Glare-Free 2.0 technology, which minimizes reflections and preserves the depth and detail of the display’s black levels. Comprehensive testing was conducted to assess how “true” black is displayed under different conditions, including the impact of ambient light in bright rooms and performance in dark environments.

Moreover, the “Real Black”-certified series offers exceptional clarity and color contrast, enriching the experience for both gaming and cinematic scenes. Thanks to Glare-Free technology, viewers can enjoy stunning and realistic visuals regardless of the content or lighting.

Samsung has maintained its leadership in the global TV market for 19 consecutive years, an achievement that reinforces its position in premium screens and advanced innovations in visual experiences. In addition to the VDE Real Black certification, the new line of OLED TVs for 2025 has been the first in the industry to receive the AMD FreeSync™ Premium Pro certification and has been validated as compatible with NVIDIA G-SYNC, ensuring smooth performance during gaming sessions.
