The educational community of Miramadrid School gathered last Friday to celebrate the VIII UNICEF Gala, an event that combined music and solidarity with a primary goal: to raise funds to ensure access to clean water for children around the world. This year, the gala raised a total of one thousand euros for UNICEF’s Water Project, a crucial initiative addressing a basic need for millions of children.
The event, which took place at the school’s facilities, became a true celebration of the community. Families, teachers, students, and guest artists enjoyed an afternoon filled with emotions and social commitment. The performances by the junior and adult choirs of Miramadrid School were the highlights of the event, along with valuable contributions from artists like Cristina del Valle and Salvador Barberá, who delighted the audience with their performances.
Under the direction of Vicente Llorens, the music teacher, the gala featured collaboration from school musicians that ensured an immersive musical experience. The participation of professionals like Sergi Perales from the Municipal Band of Madrid enriched the repertoire, which included a carefully selected range of musical pieces highlighting the importance of access to water as a fundamental right.
During the event, it was emphasized how artistic expression can be a powerful tool for raising social awareness. Each performance served as a reminder of the importance of this right and its impact on the health and well-being of children.
At the conclusion of the gala, the school principal, María Ángeles Pérez, thanked all participants and attendees, emphasizing the slogan “UNICEF: under the same sky,” which symbolized the unity and solidarity of the event. The funds raised, which will be entirely donated to UNICEF, reflect the educational community’s commitment to solidarity causes and mark a successful chapter in the history of this gala, which has established itself as a key event in Miramadrid School’s academic calendar.
The idea for this charity gala originated in 2017 and has evolved in scope and significance, transforming into a platform not only for fundraising but also for raising awareness about vital issues such as cooperation and empathy. Over the years, various artists have collaborated in this event, strengthening the school’s commitment to the holistic development of its students and their social responsibility.
Located in Paracuellos de Jarama, the school continues to promote values such as creativity and global citizenship, thus preparing its students to face the challenges of the 21st century and fostering in them a sense of responsibility toward global issues.
