Copisa Inaugurates the Espronceda Municipal Sports Complex in Sant Andreu

The Sant Andreu district in Barcelona has energetically celebrated the opening of a new sports complex aimed at revitalizing the availability of facilities for sports and promoting healthy living habits among its citizens. This weekend, the Municipal Sports Complex Espronceda was officially unveiled, highlighting its significance for both the neighborhood and the city. In a time when the demand for accessible and modern sports spaces is on the rise, the new center promises to meet expectations.

The construction of the complex was managed by Copisa Constructora, in collaboration with Solvetia S.L., creating a Temporary Joint Venture (UTE). During the opening ceremony, the Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni Cuadrado, the Sports Councilor, David Escudé, and the Councilor for Sant Andreu, Marta Villanueva, were present. They all emphasized the importance of the new complex as a space for social integration and cohesion, designed to meet the needs of the citizens.

The Espronceda Municipal Sports Center (CEM) spans a surface area of 5,500 square meters and can accommodate up to 800 athletes daily. The complex features a versatile triple sports hall, ready to host various disciplines such as table tennis, archery, and artistic gymnastics. This versatile approach aims to encourage the practice of a wide variety of sports, ensuring that the space is utilized by multiple groups.

Copisa Constructora has placed special emphasis on sustainability and energy efficiency during the design and execution of the complex. Measures have been implemented to optimize resources and minimize environmental impact, aligning with the municipal policies of ecological transition. The design maximizes natural lighting and uses durable materials to ensure sustainable maintenance over the long term.

The project, promoted by Barcelona d’Infraestructures Municipals (BIMSA), was developed under the technical direction of the architects from BARCELÓ BALANZO ARQUITECTES SLP and CONXITA BALCELLS ASSOCIATS, ensuring compliance with all relevant technical and safety standards.

With the opening of this new facility, Barcelona not only expands its network of sports facilities but also strengthens Sant Andreu as a center of accessible physical activity for its citizens. Copisa’s involvement in the construction of this complex underscores its commitment to public works and its focus on projects that promote well-being and social cohesion within the community.
