Adif and BIM Drive the Transformation of Railways towards a Digital Future

The public entity, allied with Building Information Modeling technology, launches a historic job offer, aimed at 1,342 professionals.

In its effort to achieve a more sustainable, multimodal, and intelligent mobility, Adif has set out to renew the railway sector, now promoting generational change with a historic job offer.

This is the Public Employment Offer (OEP) for this year 2024, which Adif and Adif Alta Velocidad (Adif AV) have launched with the idea of incorporating 1,342 new professionals: 1,324 in Adif and 18 in Adif AV. The goal is to renew positions of 47 profiles in areas such as legal, finance, marketing, information technology, architecture, engineering, cybersecurity, security, systems and traffic, as well as those in which electrical installation fitters, railway assistants, telecommunications officers, draftsmen, administrative staff, or engineers work. 78% of the offers correspond to operational personnel, 8% to technicians, and 14% to technical staff.

With this boost to employment, Adif and Adif AV have set out to facilitate generational change in 50% of the workforce by 2025. This call is part of the transformation process led by Adif towards a more efficient, functional mobility, and ultimately more in line with the new times. A challenge that aligns with Adif’s 2030 Strategic Plan, in which the leading company in the railway sector in Spain is at the forefront of the most innovative technologies, including BIM (Building Information Modeling).

The methodology that has revolutionized the AECO sector (Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Operations) is being firmly implemented in Adif’s actions with clear objectives in sight: improve investment and spending efficiency, sustainability, safety, quality, and collaboration in the management of railway infrastructures throughout the life cycle of assets, something that BIM allows thanks to the use of digital information models and the fact that it places people and processes at the center of transformation.

This tool and collaborative work philosophy, in which more and more professionals choose to specialize through comprehensive online BIM master programs, such as the International BIM Manager Master (+VR) offered by the specialized consultant Espacio BIM -www.espaciobim.com-, ensures effectiveness, efficiency, and optimal quality results in any construction project, centralizing all the information that comes into play (geometric or 3D, times or 4D, costs or 5D, environmental or 6D, and maintenance or 7D) in a single digital model developed by all its agents.

The new professionals who will join Adif and Adif AV through this latest job offer, the largest in the history of these major public promoters, will have access to a wide range of training options that will prepare them to ensure leadership in mobility and achieve the objectives of the 2030 Strategic Plan. A project that revolves around four fundamental pillars: safety, service, sustainability, and results orientation, and that relies on communication, innovation, and digital transformation as levers to address the challenges of the future in the railway sector.
