Almazán will be the venue in October for the 17th edition of the International Medieval Pinchos and Tapas Contest.

During the recent International Tourism Fair (FITUR), the Network of Medieval Cities and Towns held its Ordinary Assembly, where relevant topics for the member municipalities were discussed. One of the most exciting announcements was the celebration of the XVII Edition of the International Contest of Medieval Pinchos and Tapas, which will take place in October 2025 in Almazán, Soria. This town had already hosted the contest in 2014, and, as in previous occasions, the specific date of the event will be defined in the near future.

The results of the XVI Edition, held in Sigüenza in commemoration of the IX Centenary of the Reconquest, have been received with great satisfaction by the members of the Network. The mayor of Hondarribia and president of the Medieval Network, Igor Emparan, highlighted the positive tourist impact of the event, noting the favorable feedback from both the restaurateurs who welcomed chefs from different towns and the participants in the contest. Emparan emphasized that the project continues to expand and that several cities have shown interest in hosting future editions of the contest.

During the assembly, the activities carried out in 2024 were also reviewed, and both the budget and action calendar for the following year were established. A significant moment was the incorporation of Valencia de Alcántara, in Cáceres, into the Network, a step considered crucial to strengthen connections between towns with medieval heritage, allowing for a more fluid exchange between municipalities.

Additionally, attendees shared tourism experiences implemented in their respective towns, facilitating an enriching exchange of ideas. Emparan emphasized that the initiative of night visits in Sigüenza served as a model for the successful guided tour ‘Nights of Light’ in Hondarribia, highlighting the importance of collaboration between cities in the Network in the development of innovative tourist attractions.
