Microsoft has released the latest version of the Windows 11 Insider Preview, corresponding to Build 27934, in the Canary channel. This release aims to optimize the experience for users participating in the Windows Insiders program, who will gain access to a series of new features and improvements.
Among the notable changes are several general fixes that enhance system performance. One of the most significant issues addressed is the resolution of intermitting black screens caused by the Desktop Window Manager (DWM) in previous versions.
Additionally, a problem related to opening the command line from the Run dialog has been resolved. Previously, it would open in the Windows console host instead of Windows Terminal, even though the latter was set as the default application. Another fixed bug was related to unexpected closures of some Universal Windows Platform (UWP) applications when scrolling through them.
However, this new build also presents some known issues. One ongoing investigation involves the storage settings freezing in the system settings during file scans. There have also been reports of incorrect displays of previous Windows installations.
Regarding the File Explorer, users using dark mode will notice that the red indicator signaling low disk space appears more prominently than usual, and other colors may not accurately represent the information.
It’s important to note that the “Reset this PC” option in settings will not work in this version. Therefore, if a user needs to reset their computer, they will have to revert to a prior version of the build.
Microsoft has reiterated that these builds represent the latest updates on the platform and should not be considered final releases. Many of the features being tested may not be available to the general public, as they are still in the experimental phase. Users are encouraged to provide feedback through the Feedback Hub.
