Announcement of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26200.5518 in the Dev Channel.

Users of the Windows Insider program have received a new update in the development channel, corresponding to Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26200.5518 (KB5054687). This release is part of the 26200 series, which started with version 26200.5510 on March 24, and represents a significant advancement in the development of the operating system, with features that will be coming soon to Windows 11, version 24H2.

One of the most notable new features is the scalability of icons in the taskbar. This feature will allow users to keep more apps visible and accessible, even when the taskbar is full, as the icons will automatically shrink in size to make them easier to access. Additionally, customizable options will be offered so that each user can decide how they want the icons to behave based on their preferences.

Another significant improvement is the simplification of the file sharing process, which will include a new “drag tray”. This tool will allow users to drag files from File Explorer or the desktop to a tray at the top of the screen, making it easier to select apps to quickly and easily share documents.

The development team has confirmed that they are continuing to work on a series of additional features and improvements, such as implementing search functionality in Recall history, as well as optimizations in mouse settings to improve accessibility and usability. Corrections related to Windows search performance, issues with external graphics, and adjustments to virtual machine management through Hyper-V have also been addressed.

However, this release does have some drawbacks. Issues have been reported with certain features, such as Quick Assist for non-administrator users and the inability for Windows Sandbox to function properly in this version. Developers have assured users that they are aware of these issues and are working to resolve them.

Insider program members are reminded that features in development may not be ready for a public release, and they are encouraged to provide feedback through the Feedback Hub, where they can report their experiences and any issues they encounter when using these new functionalities.
