Arkadia Space signs its first commercial agreement with Maia Space, a leading European launcher company.

Arkadia Space has taken a significant step by signing its first fully commercial contract with Maia Space, a recognized French company in the field of space launchers. This collaboration represents a fundamental milestone in Arkadia’s trajectory, solidifying its position as a key propulsion provider in the aerospace sector.

The agreement includes the supply of 250N monopropellant engines, specifically designed to be integrated into the launcher’s Reaction Control System (RCS). This component is essential to ensure the rocket’s accuracy and stability during its trajectory after launch. The engines, developed under the ARIEL contract of the European Space Agency (ESA), have been duly validated by agency technicians, endorsing their reliability.

Francho García, CEO of Arkadia Space, emphasized the relevance of this contract by stating that “this demonstrates the confidence that a company like MaiaSpace has in Arkadia for the provision of key components in their launcher. Now is the time to showcase our capabilities.” The achievement of this agreement occurs in a highly competitive context, where other established companies also aspired to this opportunity.

The development of the engine began in the summer of 2023, when Arkadia only had a 5N engine project. Arkadia’s ability to develop and deliver propulsion systems efficiently and within tight deadlines was a determining factor for MaiaSpace. Additionally, the use of hydrogen peroxide-based fuel not only ensures excellent performance, but also significantly reduces costs compared to traditional systems that use hydrazine.

The alliance between both companies strengthens Arkadia Space’s position as an emerging player in the aerospace industry. This agreement not only validates the quality of the products it offers, but also demonstrates its willingness to tackle larger challenges and attract new strategic collaborations. Yohann Leroy, CEO of MaiaSpace, expressed satisfaction with the partnership and trusted that Arkadia will fulfill its delivery commitments on time and at competitive costs to equip the first reusable and environmentally friendly European mini launcher.

The contract is linked to MaiaSpace’s initial flights and marks the beginning of a strategic relationship that could extend to future missions and projects. For Arkadia Space, this agreement underscores the validation of its technical competencies and its ability to develop propulsion systems that span a wide market, from satellite systems to large launcher vehicles. With an eye on the launch of its first DARK propulsion system, scheduled aboard D-Orbit, Arkadia is gearing up to secure more commercial contracts during 2025.

Founded in Castellón at the end of 2020 by a team of professionals from PLD Space, Arkadia Space specializes in the development of propulsion systems using green fuels, marking a significant advancement towards sustainability in the aerospace industry. On the other hand, MaiaSpace, established in 2022, aims to design and operate a reusable mini launcher that combines efficiency and ecological responsibility, with the start of its commercial operations planned for 2026.
