Axibo AI secures $12 million for humanoid development in Canada.

Axibo Inc., an innovative robotics company based in Waterloo, has secured a $12 million investment to launch its new division focused on advanced humanoid robotics. This funding round consists of $11 million from external investors, in addition to $1 million contributed by the company’s founders: Anoop Gadhrri, Sohaib Al-Emara, and Reiner Schmidt.

Axibo is known for its 4D volumetric capture technologies and has worked with major clients such as Netflix and Apple. The company has delivered thousands of robots to the film industry internationally and is now looking to harness the talent available in Waterloo, a region known for its excellence in artificial intelligence, robotics, and precision engineering, to lead the development of humanoid robotics.

Co-founder and CEO Anoop Gadhrri has stated that humanoid robots could be the next major breakthrough in productivity, similar to the Industrial Revolution, and highlighted Canada’s advantageous position in terms of resources and skills in this field. The company is seeking engineers who share their passion for developing innovative technologies, with the goal of shaping the future of humanoid robotics globally.

The initial members of this team will not only focus on creating innovative prototypes, but will also contribute to generating robotic solutions that integrate into key sectors such as healthcare, logistics, industrial automation, and personal assistance. Axibo promotes a culture of innovation that emphasizes rapid prototyping and autonomy for its engineers in their daily work.

Axibo’s vision is for humanoid robotics to become an essential part of everyday life, improving productivity and quality of life in Canada and other parts of the world. The first prototype of this new division, tentatively known as “T.E.B.,” is set to be unveiled in early 2026, showcasing advanced agility and intelligence skills.
