BME joins REDI to promote LGTBI diversity.

BME has joined REDI, the Business Network for LGBTI Diversity and Inclusion, which brings together more than 260 organizations, including large companies, SMEs, institutions, individuals, and expert consultants.

On June 27, within the framework of the REDI Academy, an event that includes workshops and networking activities aimed at reflecting on the promotion of diversity in companies, BME received the accreditation diploma as a new member along with other companies that have joined this initiative. This event represents a step forward in BME’s commitment to promoting diversity among LGBTI people, in line with its sustainability policy.

Javier Hernani, CEO of BME, emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating that “with this action, BME reaffirms its commitment to diversity and equality for all its employees, principles that govern all human resources management practices in the company. We work every day of the year to ensure that this company is a safe place where all people, regardless of their sexual orientation or identity, have access to the same opportunities.”

In continuation of its support for the LGBTI community, BME will participate for the second consecutive year in the national LGBTI Pride march to be held on July 6 in Madrid. Additionally, it will decorate the stairs of the Madrid Stock Exchange with a rainbow-colored carpet of the LGBTI flag during that weekend. Internationally, SIX, a related entity, has participated in Pride marches in Zurich and Warsaw, held on June 15 and 22 respectively.

SIX also has an internal community of LGBTI individuals and allies called Queers&Peers, in which various initiatives aimed at promoting diversity and inclusion are discussed. Additionally, the company has a Diversity Group that actively works to promote a diverse and inclusive work environment.

REDI, created in 2018, is a non-profit association whose objective is to promote the general interest and contribute to a more respectful society by promoting non-discrimination and equal opportunities. Through the support of its members, REDI activates and enhances inclusive and safe work spaces where talent is valued regardless of the identity, sexual characteristics, gender expression, or sexual orientation of individuals.
