Bonus for Companies that Manage their Packaging Waste Responsibly

The new Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations, initiated with the Royal Decree 1055/2022, have set a renewed scheme for the management of industrial and commercial packaging waste in Spain. ENVALORA, the Extended Producer Responsibility Collective System, has emerged as a comprehensive solution for the more than 2,600 companies that have joined the model, ensuring effective regulatory compliance and more efficient waste management.

One of the most innovative aspects of ENVALORA is its model of agreements with the final holder, which allows any company to get a financial bonus for demonstrating responsible waste management. This advantage is open even to companies that do not belong to the SCRAP, incentivizing a greater commitment to sustainable practices.

According to Joan Ros, Operations Director at ENVALORA, many companies already carry out appropriate waste management with authorized managers. Now, they can formalize this process with ENVALORA and receive economic benefits in return, which is a tangible incentive to continue these responsible practices.

Formalizing the agreement is straightforward. Companies must sign an agreement with ENVALORA and present the supporting documentation of their waste management, such as Identification Documents or Tracking Sheets provided by authorized managers. Additionally, there is the possibility that the authorized manager takes care of the process if both parties agree.

To simplify document management, ENVANET, a digital platform that centralizes all the necessary documentation, has been implemented. This tool allows companies to register their waste generation centers, sign agreements, and resolve queries with the technical team. Isabel Goyena, Director of ENVALORA, underlines the importance of this platform to ensure the traceability and transparency of the process.

Once the documentation is validated, ENVALORA pays the bonuses within a determined period, benefiting various companies that have demonstrated proper management. Carles Pique, responsible for quality, safety, and the environment at Auxicolor, highlights that the process has become more agile and efficient since they formalized their agreement with ENVALORA.
