Boost the Business Productivity of Your LLM Solution Through Access to Amazon Q Business Data.

Since the launch of Amazon Q Business in 2024, this generative artificial intelligence assistant has revolutionized the way companies optimize their productivity and efficiency. This comprehensive tool allows users to answer questions, generate summaries, create content, and perform tasks using business data more efficiently.

In a work environment where employees face a growing overload of applications, the average use of IT tools has increased from six to eleven in just four years, according to Gartner data. This has drastically changed how workers organize their workflow, which often requires consulting multiple platforms such as Slack, Smartsheet, and Salesforce, as well as accessing data hosted on Amazon S3. Amazon Q Business presents itself as a solution to this challenge through an integrated index system that can be fed with the data of each client, connecting to over 40 data sources, including SharePoint and Confluence.

The key to this tool lies in its accessibility and efficient handling of information. By setting up indexes with data connectors, users can quickly access previous information, generate content, and perform tasks with great agility. This capability is further enhanced by Amazon’s offer to Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) to access the information organized in these indexes, empowering their own generative artificial intelligence applications.

In December 2024, Amazon launched the “Amazon Q Index for ISVs”, a service that allows these providers to access their clients’ data through the Amazon Q index, enriching their Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions with renewed generative artificial intelligence experiences. This new service has established strategic partnerships with companies such as Asana, Miro, and Zoom.

The process for an ISV to become a “data accessor” involves three key stages: first, the ISV must register as an accessor; second, enable the client to allow access to their index; and third, enable the ISV to make queries through API requests. This approach ensures that each step is authorized and authenticated, guaranteeing a secure interaction between both parties.

For ISVs wishing to become data accessors, the first step is to complete an expression of interest form, followed by the collection and delivery of necessary information for registration, including the display name, an icon to identify the application, and details on role management through AWS.

In the current business context, where data management and efficiency are more crucial than ever, the Amazon Q Index stands out as a powerful tool that allows organizations to maximize the value of their investments in artificial intelligence technology, offering innovative ways to work with data. As more ISVs take advantage of these integrations, an increase in use cases is anticipated that could potentially enhance productivity across various industries.
