Church of God World Mission Society Launches Blood Donation Campaign

Last Sunday, over 170 volunteers from various Spanish cities, such as Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, and Valencia, gathered in the capital to participate in the 1618th Worldwide Blood Donation Campaign for the Love of Life and Easter. This significant event was organized by the Church of God, World Mission Society, under the leadership of General Pastor Kim Joo-cheol.

The activity took place at the Church of God Madrid III, in collaboration with the Spanish Red Cross Blood Transfusion Center. From 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a large number of citizens, including workers, students, and residents, demonstrated their strong commitment by joining this noble cause. Of the 94 people who volunteered as donors, 71 successfully completed the process, significantly contributing to the blood supply in the region.

A representative from the Church emphasized the importance of altruistic donation, stating that “blood is essential for saving lives and can only be obtained through donation.” Additionally, the event was held in the context of celebrating Easter, symbolizing values of love and life.

The donors reported having properly prepared for the donation by taking care of their nutrition and health, showing a genuine interest in the well-being of others. Teresa Barajas, from the Red Cross Blood Transfusion Center, praised the organization of the event, highlighting its exemplary nature.

The Church of God’s involvement in blood donation initiatives is not new. Last June, during World Blood Donor Day, a similar campaign was conducted with the participation of 172 people. The demand for blood typically increases during the summer months, and since 2012, the Church has shown a consistent commitment to this cause, receiving recognition from various entities, including a certificate of appreciation from the director of the Red Cross blood center.

Since 2005, the Church has promoted blood donation campaigns worldwide, reaching a total of 1,553 editions of this initiative by March 2025, with over 286,000 participants. Of these, 123,447 have made effective donations, which has resulted in the saving of approximately 370,000 lives.

In addition to its donation campaigns, the Church of God carries out various community activities, including cleanup and environmental conservation efforts in iconic locations across several cities. This year, the organization is celebrating its 61st anniversary, highlighting its legacy of love and service in 175 countries, with over 7,800 congregations and 3.92 million members.
