Cinematic and Social Success in the 3rd Edition of Short Knots in Sigüenza

Last Saturday, the closing of the III Edition of the Short Film Festival of Sigüenza, Nudos Cortos, was celebrated in the Auditorium of El Pósito. Despite the adverse weather conditions, the event managed to bring together a large number of film lovers. Throughout the week, the festival stood out not only for the quality of the works presented, but also for its significant social component, attracting audiences from various parts since its opening the previous Tuesday, which featured a conference by the renowned director of animated short films, Pedro Solís.

In total, more than 300 works were presented during the festival, which ended with a gala where various awards were given in different categories. In the fictional category, the ‘Nudo’ award was shared between the short films ‘Grecorromanos’, by Mikel Bustamante, and ‘La Compañía’, by José María Flores. ‘Grecorromanos’, which premiered in December 2024, invites reflection on human relationships in a dramatic context, while ‘La Compañía’ tells the story of a young couple facing a shocking revelation on a seemingly ordinary night. In the animation category, the award went to ‘Periquitos’, by Álex Rey, which explores the figure of Hayao Miyazaki in the context of his announced retirement.

At the gala, which was attended by local authorities, including Sabrina Escribano, the new deputy delegate of Culture, the growing institutional support for the event was highlighted. Escribano emphasized that each edition of the festival has improved both in quality and participation. Ana Blasco, Councilor of Culture, valued the collaboration between institutions and local associative fabric to give life to a vibrant and diverse cultural program.

The celebration ended with a musical performance by MusiKoke, and provided a space for young artists, like the painter Sara Aguilera, to express the need for continuous support for culture in rural areas.

The jury, composed of figures like Pilar Sancho and Fran Gas, awarded a special mention to ‘Corre, Adela’ by Alba Pino, a short film that tells of an unexpected encounter that challenges a young footballer. In addition, the audience chose ‘Depredador’, by Javier Fesser, and ‘Cafuné’, an animated short film, as their favorites in their respective categories.

With this successful third edition, Nudos Cortos has established Sigüenza as a new reference in the national short film scene, capturing the attention of directors and actors present at the festival, and demonstrating that cinematic culture has a relevant space in this historic city.
