Colombia is preparing to dazzle at FITUR 2025 with its largest tourism delegation.

Colombia is finalizing the details for its participation in FITUR 2025, the main international tourism fair globally, where for the first time it will present its cruise offer in an effort to attract the European market. The Colombian delegation will be composed of 50 prominent representatives from the tourism sector, including operators, accommodations, and regional entities, marking the country’s largest participation in the history of the event.

The event is coordinated by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism, together with ProColombia, reinforcing the country’s commitment to promoting its rich tourism offer. Minister Luis Carlos Reyes Hernández has emphasized the relevance of FITUR as a platform to showcase Colombia’s natural and cultural riches, as well as the efforts made to enhance its positioning as an attractive destination for international tourism.

Carmen Caballero, president of ProColombia, has pointed out that the fair is a strategic opportunity to showcase the diversity in destinations and unique experiences that the country offers, as well as its focus on sustainability, positioning itself as a leader in responsible tourism. The Colombia stand, which will occupy a 460 m² space in Pavilion 3, will become an international meeting point, where visitors can enjoy an experience that mixes biodiversity, culture, and sustainable practices.

One of the most prominent initiatives that will be presented at FITUR is the leveraging of the Netflix series “One Hundred Years of Solitude”, with the aim of attracting visitors under the concept “Macondo, inspired by the country of beauty”, inviting them to explore the landscapes and traditions that brought to life Gabriel García Márquez’s celebrated work.

In addition, Colombia will showcase its cruise offer along the coasts of the Caribbean, the Pacific, and the Magdalena River. During the 2023-2024 season, the country welcomed over 336,700 cruise passengers, representing a 3% increase in calls at key ports such as Cartagena, Santa Marta, and San Andrés. ProColombia aims to attract the attention of operators and cruise lines to include their ports in future routes, highlighting the variety of experiences that the country can offer.

Sustainability remains a pillar in Colombia’s tourism strategy. With eight beaches certified under the Blue Flag program, the country reaffirms its commitment to protecting ecosystems while creating economic opportunities for local communities. A special section dedicated to inclusive tourism will also be set up at the stand, including an artistic activation to celebrate the country’s cultural diversity, reflecting ProColombia’s initiatives to position Colombia as an inclusive destination.

Spain consolidates itself as one of the main tourist source markets to Colombia, showing an increase in visitor arrivals compared to the previous year. The new air connectivity, facilitated by the opening of new routes, has significantly improved the tourism exchange between both countries, positioning Colombia as an attractive and dynamic destination internationally.
