The subsidized projects must be of proven quality and focused on addressing unmet needs in close collaboration with the sick individuals, their representatives, and families. Additionally, those aimed at validating technologies, biomarkers, and procedures of Precision Personalized Medicine in daily clinical practice will be prioritized.

The research lines covered by the call are:
– Genomic Medicine of rare diseases, including the identification of variants and tools for prevention and early diagnosis.
– Improvement of prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment of ALS and other neuromuscular diseases.
– Research on continuity of care strategies from the hospital to primary care.
– Research on care for chronicity and disability in patients with rare diseases, ALS, and other neuromuscular diseases.

The entities that can apply for these grants include accredited health research institutes, public and private health entities, universities, public research organizations, non-profit public and private entities, public consortia, and other R&D centers with demonstrated capacities in health research.

The total budget allocated to this call is 20 million euros, with the possibility of increasing by an additional 5 million, coming from the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan.

Applications must be submitted through the electronic headquarters of the Carlos III Health Institute, between July 18 and September 5, 2024.
