Microsoft has today unveiled the new version of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26200.5516 (KB5054687) for the development channel, marking a significant step in the evolution of its operating system. This update is part of a series of improvements that anticipate the arrival of new features, with a special focus on devices running on AMD and Intel platforms.
One of the standout advancements in this version is the enhancement in Windows search. The addition of a new semantic indexing system will allow users with PCs equipped with Copilot+ to find documents, photos, and settings using more natural descriptions. This means users no longer need to remember the exact names of files; for example, they can search for an image by describing “sunset bridge” or a “Europe travel budget” using everyday language. This system offers high performance thanks to the NPU of over 40 TOPS present in the devices, all without requiring an internet connection.
Additionally, the search for photos stored in the cloud has been improved. Users can now access images saved in cloud storage services like OneDrive, further integrating their search experience by connecting with their local files.
Another important update is the addition of a “voice summarizer” in Narrator, Microsoft’s screen reading software. This tool will make it easier for users to follow the reading performed by Narrator, allowing for smoother information tracking and quick text copying.
In terms of visual improvements, updates have been implemented in the user interface, particularly in unexpected restarts, which now align better with the design of Windows 11. New ways to interact with Copilot on Windows will also be offered, including the ability to use key combinations to start conversations with this tool.
With this update, Microsoft aims to continue improving functionality and user experience in Windows 11, addressing suggestions from its Windows Insiders community. However, users are advised that not all features will be available immediately, as updates will be rolled out gradually. Users are encouraged to use the Feedback Hub to report any issues or suggestions related to the new functions.
