Discovering Art: The National Prado Museum Presents ‘Baroque Spaces’, Its Innovative Digital Educational Project.

The Museo Nacional del Prado has taken a significant step in the educational field by launching “Baroque Spaces”, an innovative digital project developed in collaboration with Samsung. This resource is aimed at the educational community, including both students and teachers of the third cycle of Primary and Secondary education. It is presented as an interactive webdoc that allows users to explore the Baroque period in an accessible and attractive way for all audiences.

“Baroque Spaces” consists of a series of audiovisual capsules and interactive resources that invite users to delve into the daily life, worship spaces, leisure, and concerns of the 17th century. The structure of the webdoc includes 15 capsules organized in four thematic chapters, which allows users to customize their journey through various subthemes such as “Looking at the sky”, “Everyday spaces”, and “Baroque theater”. Actress Andrea San Juan guides visitors through the content, with scenes filmed at the Prado Museum that are complemented by didactic and entertaining animations.

The minimalist design of the project has been created to ensure a smooth experience on various devices, adapting to both the classroom environment and personal use situations. “Baroque Spaces” not only represents an advancement in the Museum’s commitment to innovative education but also seeks to establish new digital narratives that promote dialogue between art and contemporary society. This project contributes to consolidating the educational mission of the Prado, laying the foundations for a digital space with accessible educational resources for students and teachers.

The webdoc includes interactive tools such as a faceted search engine, which facilitates content exploration according to educational level, area of knowledge, and theme. In addition, playful resources such as games, interactive images, and biographies have been incorporated to enrich the understanding of the Baroque period.

“Baroque Spaces” is already available on the official website of the Prado Museum, offering the educational community an experience that connects 17th-century art with the present in an inclusive and digital way. This initiative represents a step forward in integrating education and culture, promoting learning through innovation and interaction.
