From Segovia to Your Table: Promoting the Image of Food Producers.

The II Edition of the ‘From Segovia to Your Table’ Awards took place in Carbonero El Mayor, becoming a meeting point for distinguished representatives of the agri-food sector in the province. This initiative, promoted by Agrifood Communication and the Rural Foundation of Segovia, in collaboration with the local City Council and the Diputación de Segovia, focuses on recognizing the excellence of Segovian products and the effort of those who operate along the agri-food chain.

During the ceremony, the mayor of Carbonero El Mayor, María Ángeles García, emphasized that these awards reflect the effort and talent of local producers and entrepreneurs. “For Carbonero el Mayor, it is a pride to have among the awardees two entities that are based here: Grupo Monte Nevado and Cándido Muñoz, S.L.,” García pointed out.

The vice president of the Diputación de Segovia, Magdalena Rodríguez, stated that the agri-food sector is fundamental for the economic development of the province, and that with these awards, the aim is to make its growth visible and support it. Likewise, Ángel Luis Llorente, president of the Rural Foundation of Segovia, reaffirmed the entity’s commitment to this sector, highlighted the value of the quality of Segovian products, and the importance of recognizing the effort of their producers.

Ricardo Migueláñez, coordinator of the initiative, emphasized the importance of communication as a tool to value the agri-food sector. In his speech, he explained that the sector’s reputation is built on the basis of well-done work, and that communication is essential to connect consumers with the agricultural reality of Segovia.

The event also included a keynote address by Daniel Ramón, professor of Food Technology at the Cardenal Herrera CEU University, who analyzed the challenges facing the agri-food sector in Europe. Ramón warned about the need for a change in the innovation model, which must shift from a marketing and logistics focus to one based on research and science.

The winners of this second edition of the awards were:

– Lifetime Achievement Award: Muñoz Family of the COPESE Food Group, for their significant contribution to the Segovian agri-food sector.
– Technological Innovation Award: Cándido Muñoz Pascual, S.L., for their commitment to R&D.
– Entrepreneurial Initiative Award: Ecoeduco Group, for the combination of traditional teachings with modern and environmentally friendly techniques.
– Segovia’s Connection to the Land Award: Grupo Monte Nevado, for their dedication to local products.
– International Promotion Award: El Pinar Nursery and Fruit Company, for their work in the international projection of the agri-food sector.
– Sustainable Development Award: Hijos de Teodoro Muñoz, S.L., for their contribution towards a more sustainable value chain.

The gala not only celebrated the awardees but also paid tribute to the hard work that makes Segovia’s products a symbol of quality both nationally and internationally.
