Global Headlines: Conflicts in Gaza, Disappearances in Mexico, and Situation in Afghanistan – Thursday News

The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued an urgent call for action in response to the alarming shortage of medical supplies in Gaza, warning that they will run out within two to four weeks if Israel does not lift the blockade that has been in place for six weeks. According to the WHO, the situation is critical, with supply levels dangerously low, severely impacting the well-being and health of the population, especially children.

So far, the entry of 180,000 doses of infant vaccines has been prevented, posing a serious health risk to approximately 60,000 children under the age of two. Dr. Tedros Adhanom Gebreyesus, WHO Director-General, emphasized that the blockade has left thousands of families without access to food, clean water, adequate medical care, and a safe shelter. “This increases the risk of diseases and deaths,” he emphasized.

In the past week, 75% of UN missions in Gaza have been hindered, further worsening the humanitarian situation. Recently, the WHO managed to coordinate the medical evacuation of 18 critically ill patients to Norway, Malta, Luxembourg, and Romania, through the Kerem Shalom crossing. However, between 10,500 and 12,500 patients in Gaza are still awaiting urgent medical care.

This situation is part of a backdrop of tensions and crises not only in Gaza, but also in various parts of the world, where human rights violations and episodes of extreme violence are being reported. The international community faces the urgent responsibility to act to prevent the humanitarian situation in Gaza from escalating into an even greater tragedy.
