GN Presents the First Edition of ‘More than Hearing’: An Exclusive Program Connecting Auditory Health with Brain Health.

GN Hearing Spain has announced the launch of “More than Hearing,” an exclusive masterclass that will take place on September 18 and 19 in Madrid. This event is aimed at audioprosthetists from the GN Group and aims to address hearing health from a holistic perspective, analyzing its impact on cognition, overall well-being, and mental health.

During the two days, recognized experts in Neurology, Otorhinolaryngology, and Audiology will share their knowledge and provide practical tools to reinforce the role of the audioprosthetist in the clinical field. This masterclass emerges in a context where it is becoming increasingly evident that hearing loss should not only be considered a sensory issue but also a key risk factor in the development of cognitive diseases, such as dementia, as well as its influence on the social and physical health of individuals.

The first day of the event will focus on neuroscience and will feature prominent professionals such as neurologist Estela Lladó, otorhinolaryngologist Iván Domenech, and neurologist Wyllians Vendramini Borelli. Dr. Sigurd Brandt, Medical Director of GN, will also present, sharing the latest findings related to audiology, including the innovative clinical trial ACHIEVE, published this year.

The second day will concentrate on the practical application of concepts in audiology. One of the topics to be addressed will be “organic hearing,” an approach developed by the GN Group that seeks to replicate the natural functioning of the ear in the design of hearing devices. Additionally, holistic patient care protocols will be discussed, along with tools to bring recent scientific evidence into clinical practice. Among the professionals speaking will be Pilar García, Commercial Director in Spain, and Manuel Yuste, Product Director in Spain and Portugal.

Another highlighted activity in the program will be a presentation on “Listen to This,” a global initiative aimed at emphasizing auditory health as an essential component of overall health, fostering improvements in primary care and related research.

José Luis Otero, General Director for Southern Europe and Brazil at GN, will inaugurate the event. Otero explained that “More than Hearing” seeks to provide attendees with a space for reflection and scientific updating. “Now more than ever, the audioprosthetist plays a crucial role in public health, and at GN, we want to stand by them, providing robust tools and high-quality training,” he asserted.

Registrations to participate in this masterclass are open until September 4. Interested parties can check the complete program and find more information through the official course website.
