Government Drive to Infrared Technology Sector: SETT Integration in Sensia.

The Minister for Digital Transformation and Public Function, Óscar López, has announced a key initiative to strengthen the infrared technology sector in Spain. The Spanish Society for Technological Transformation (SETT) has decided to make a public co-investment of 9 million euros in the Madrid-based company Sensia, which will develop a project with a total amount of 19 million euros thanks to the collaboration with the financial group A&G.

Sensia, founded in 2008 as a spin-off from the Carlos III University of Madrid, is located in the Technological Park of Leganés and has emerged as one of the leading companies in the production of infrared image sensors. Its technologies have versatile applications ranging from environmental protection and industrial sustainability to safety in the detection of natural disasters.

The new project focuses on the development of an advanced generation of sensors, which promises to surpass the capabilities of current models. This innovation is vital, as it is expected to enable Spain and Europe to gain a competitive advantage over powerhouses like Israel, the United States, and China in this sector. Sensia is a pioneer in Intelligent Infrared Imaging, which uses artificial intelligence to carry out automated analyses without human intervention. This capability is crucial in emergency situations, such as early detection of wildfires or identification of toxic gas leaks.

Sensia also stands out for its technological autonomy, as it develops and produces its own software, hardware, and artificial intelligence algorithms, giving it total control over the quality of its products. Its sensors, which operate without the need for external lighting, offer a key tactical advantage in observation missions and national security.

This investment aligns with the objectives of the Chip PERTE, a plan aimed at promoting growth in the technological industry and the production of infrared sensors in the country. A&G ETTF, a financial group focused on companies supporting energy transition, will also support the development of these cutting-edge technologies.

With these efforts, the Spanish government reaffirms its commitment to promoting innovation and technological sovereignty in the field of digital transformation and sustainability, at a time when global competition in the technology sector is more intense than ever.
