Hereu Announces Major Funding for Stellantis Figueruelas under the PERTE VEC

The Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, has announced the granting of 133 million euros to Stellantis Figueruelas within the third call of the PERTE VEC. This announcement was made during the ‘Impulso Awards’ ceremony, marking a significant milestone in recent investments in the automotive sector. This funding, aimed at battery line A, will allow the Stellantis Group to carry out its second most relevant investment in the automotive industry in recent years.

The amount communicated adds to the 14 million euros previously allocated within the decarbonization PERTE, reaching a total close to the 300 million euros that Stellantis has received. Of this amount, more than 272 million correspond to grants, while 26 million have been granted as loans.

Minister Hereu pointed out that the resolution will detail other economic grants shortly. Among the beneficiaries, Stellantis Vigo will benefit from 2 million euros, Mahle Behr Spain in Tarragona will receive 3 million, and Ficosa in Barcelona will receive 2.5 million.

The Ministry has also decided to increase the subsidy for the PowerCo gigafactory in Sagunto, raising it from 98 million euros to 152 million, benefiting one of the largest projects in the region, surpassing its initial expectations.

During the event, Hereu emphasized the urgent need for a transition to electrification in the automotive sector and highlighted the priority of dedicating a significant part of the funds to the automotive industry. “This is the industrial program with the highest economic allocation in our history,” he said.

He also congratulated the awardees for their outstanding contributions to excellence in the sector and encouraged the presentation of new initiatives within the PERTE VEC. The next call, which will have 1.250 million euros, is scheduled to take place before the end of the year.

The announcement of these measures demonstrates the government’s firm commitment to promoting sustainable mobility and strengthening the automotive industry, which is essential within the national recovery plan and initiatives financed by the NextGenerationEU funds.
