The startup Amelia Hub has made a strong entry into the solar sector after receiving significant recognition for its innovative solution, Hincator®. This device was awarded in the Iberdrola challenge of the #AncesOpenInnovation2025 program, establishing the Barcelona-based company as a leader in solar technology. With over ten years of experience, Amelia Hub has evolved from using drones to developing specialized software and hardware aimed at improving efficiency in the industry.
Hincator® is designed to automate quality control in the construction of photovoltaic parks, providing millimeter precision that has caught the attention of key players in the energy industry. This integrated system combines hardware and software, transforming a historically manual process that is prone to errors. In less than 15 seconds per drive, Hincator® measures various crucial parameters such as XYZ position, tilt, and protrusion. One of its standout features is its connectivity via Starlink, allowing it to operate in areas without coverage. The collected data is automatically synchronized with the cloud, facilitating real-time reports and analysis.
The technology has been developed in collaboration with Grupo Ortiz, one of the leading solar contractors in Spain. In tests conducted on real projects, Hincator® has demonstrated a remarkable 83% reduction in inspection times and savings of over €75,000 for a 50 MW park.
Amelia Hub has also received other recognitions, such as support from the CDTI Innovation and Development Program, and has been a finalist in several prestigious competitions, including the EmprendeXXI Awards from CaixaBank DayOne and the 5G Challenge MEO. Additionally, it has been highlighted among the top ten in the Trust Tech & Data category at South Summit Madrid 2025.
The impact of Hincator® is tangible, with various players in the photovoltaic sector conducting tests at their facilities and the first subscriptions to the platform already underway. The growing interest in this technology underscores its alignment with the current needs of the industry.
Bernardo Sá Pereira, CEO of Amelia Hub, notes that Hincator® emerged as a research and development challenge and has evolved into a practical solution for the solar sector. With this innovation, the company reaffirms its commitment to promoting more efficient, precise, and scalable solar construction, proactively addressing market challenges.
